HLA fall in first road game

BATTLE LAKE — The Battle Lake Battler girls were able to hold off Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in a girls basketball matchup Thursday evening. Defense proved to be valuable as Battle Lake held the Comets to only 26 points on the evening, giving them the advantage in a 47-26 victory.

Sophomore guard Maddy Merickel led the Battlers in scoring with 15 points in the game. She also added 6 steals on the night. Katie Rilla and Emily Marso each had 11 points to go along with Merickel’s 15.

For Hillcrest Abigale Monacelli had the hot hand, scoring 15 of Hillcrest’s 26.

“We got off to a slow start, but played much better in the second half.” Battle Lake Coach Tori Ehlert had to say about the game.

Battle Lake will take on Rothsay next Friday, December 14th, and Hillcrest will prepare for a Tuesday matchup against Pelican Rapids.
