UNDERWOOD — The Henning Hornet defense was able to stymie the Underwood Rockets early and came away with a 56-45 win over Hwy 210 rival Thursday.

The Rockets got off to a slow start in the first half and went into the break down 26-14.

Underwood’s offense was able to pick up in the second half, but they were stuck playing catch-up and suffered their first loss of the season.

Henning’s Zach Torgerson led the Hornet shooters dropping in 16 points. Collin Dague (15), Andrew Smith (11) and Kaleb Thalmann (10) were also in double figures.

Zane Lind led Underwood with 11 points and eight rebounds, while teammate Chase Collings added 11 of his own.

The Rockets will continue their Hwy 210 road trip Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. versus Battle Lake, while the Hornets will look to remain unbeaten as they travel to take on New York Mills Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tilt.
