Icy roads contribute to crashes [UPDATED]

The icy conditions Friday evening and Saturday morning resulted in at least two accidents in the area.full-time

• A West Virginia man was hurt early Saturday morning when his driveable crane went into the ditch along Interstate 94 near Asbhy.

Gerry Harry, 64, of West Virginia was driving on I-94 about three miles west of Ashby in Grant County when his crane entered the median and rolled, according to the State Patrol.

Harry suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

• A New York Mills woman was not injured Friday evening when her car slipped off the road and broke through the ice in a drainage ditch near New York Mills.

Sandra Rounsville, 58, was driving on County Road 35 approaching County Road 52 when she swerved to miss a deer, causing her vehicle to go off the road and into the ditch, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department.
