Tickets on sale for ‘Friends of Friends’ hunger-fighting event [UPDATED]

Tickets are now on sale for the fifth annual “Friends of Friends Fighting Hunger” charity event. This annual event will take place at Thumper Pond Resort in Ottertail, Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.

The evening includes a social and auction beginning at 5 p.m., dinner and dancing to the fantastic sounds of the “Fat Daddy’s” and tons of fun.

Tickets are $50 per person and are available at the United Way office at 120 East Washington Ave in Fergus Falls. You may also purchase tickets by contacting United Way at 1-877-457-2185 or 218-736-5147.

This charity event will primarily benefit the Children’s Hunger Back Pack Program for children in Otter Tail County who may not otherwise have food resources on the weekend and long holidays away from school. There are 332 children enrolled in this program.

Packages of nutritional and easy to prepare foods are supplied by North Country Food Bank. A packaged meal averages around $3.75 to $4 per child a week.
