BATTLE LAKE — In a hard fought battle, the Battle Lake Battler boys were able to defend their home court against Little Eight Conference rival Underwood in a 54-47 win Tuesday.

Both teams came into the game looking to rebound from tough losses in previous contests. The tone was set early as the defenses ratcheted up and played tight to their opponents the entire evening.

When the dust cleared in the second half, the Battlers walked off the court victorious.

Tyler Ukkelberg led the Battle Lake team in scoring with 13 points, while teammates Tony Ukkelberg and Petric VanErp each contributed 10 points in the win.

Underwood’s Zane Lind continues his stellar season tallying 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Steffan Stroh added 14 marks of his own.

Each team had a decent night from the field as the Battlers shot 42 percent, while Underwood hit 41 percent of their shots.

The Rockets have dropped their last two games against Highway 210 rivals, losing to Henning last Thursday.

The Battlers will now travel to take on the Hillcrest Comets in a 7:30 p.m. LEC contest Thursday.

The Rockets will look to get back on the right track as they host Brandon/Evansville Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
