Vikings thump Comets 70-20

The Pelican Rapids Vikings and the Korf sisters were able to make Hillcrest gym fell like their own as they defeated the Comets 70-20 Tuesday evening.

The Vikings controlled the game from the early going and were able to ride a 43-12 half-time lead to a 50 point victory.

Mackenzie and Madison Korf each scored 17 tallies, while teammate Lincoln Haiby ripped down eight rebounds in the win.

“We came out and really played defense,” Vikings’ coach Brad Korf said.

The lone scorers for the Comets were Kelsey Nersten and Abbe Monacelli with 10 points a piece.

“It was great guard play by the Korf sisters,” Comets’ coach Charlie Brue said of the game.

Pelican Rapids shot an outstanding 71 shots, making 30.

The Vikings will now take on Heart O’Lakes rival Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on the road in a 7:30 p.m. Thursday match up, while the Comets will look for a better outcome as they travel to take on state ranked Parkers Prairie Friday at 7:30 p.m.
