Sabres defend home mat, beat Otters 38-27

SARTELL — The Fergus Falls Otters saw key wins in the upper weight classes propel hosting Sartell-St. Stephen to a 38-27 Central Lakes Conference victory Thursday.

Fergus traded wins back and forth with the Sabres, but the Otters saw only one win in the final five classes as Abram Aho pinned Creedence McDermond at 3:48.

Abbot Aho, Ben Schindler, Tyler Giza, Dane Ringquist and Walker Heinen all picked up wins for Fergus in the meet.

In JV action, Fergus’ Kyle Kraft won by fall over Xavier Corpus and Zach Boyd won by decision over Sartell’s Andrew Marstein in overtime.

The Otters will now travel to the Big Bear Invite Friday and Satruday in Cass Lake.
