WAHPETON — The Otter boys were able to ride a four goal first period to third win of the season as they defeated the Breckenridge /Wahpeton Blades 7-1 Saturday.

Kyle Peterson put Fergus Falls on the board early as Aidan Colling pass at the 2:14 mark. Sam Rausch would add back-to-back goals for the Otters scoring at 4:41 and 6:30 in the first period. Fergus was not done in the opening period as Zach Tarczon flipped in a Joe Nathe pass to give the visiting team a four goal lead.

The Otters kept the pressure on in the second period as Austin Hanson punched in a power play goal with an assist by Adam Evenson. The Blades would follow with their lone goal of the game midway through the period, but Connor Tarczon would respond for Fergus with a goal 21 second later.

Nathe would add one more goal for the Otters as he scored unassisted in the opening minute of the third.

The home team struggled to get shots on net as they finished with 12, while the visiting Otter team continued to assault the pipes with 54 shots on goal.

Fergus played a clean game as they did not see a player in the penalty box the entire game.

The Otters will be back at home on Tuesday as they host River Lakes. The puck will drop at 7:15 p.m.
