ST. PAUL — The Fergus Falls High School marching band has played its way into next month’s Inaugural Parade in Washington.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced the involvement of the Fergus Falls contingent on Wednesday. The committee has been rolling out the names of groups invited to take part, but so far only one has Minnesota ties.

More than 2,800 groups applied.

The Fergus Falls band also took part in the 2009 inaugural events.

The parade runs down Pennsylvania Avenue past the White House where President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and their families will be watching.

“There’s nothing better than seeing my own state’s band in the inauguration,” Sen. Amy Kloubuchar said Wednesday. “It’s quite an honor.”
