BATTLE LAKE — The Battle Lake boys came out on the court like they were shot out of a cannon as they defeated visiting Little Eight Conference foe Rothsay 72-36 Thursday.

The Battlers stunned the Tigers as they jumped out to a 48-14 half-time lead and never looked back on the way to a win.

Petric VanErp scored 21 points for the Battlers while teammates Tyler Ukkelberg (16 points), Micah Rogness (11) and Brock Bleichner (11) also were in double figures in the win. Ukkelberg also pulled down 10 boards for a double-double.

The Battlers will be back in action Dec. 29 as they travel to take on Osakis at 3:30 p.m., while the Tigers will take on Lake Park-Audubon at 6:45 p.m. at the Barnesville/Lake Park-Audubon, Ulen-Hitterdal Holiday Tournament Thursday.
