Fergus Falls Police would like the public’s help in finding a man who jumped over a counter at M State and stole a cash tray containing $1,400 Thursday.

The man allegedly hopped a counter near the bookstore where students could sell their books back when the attendant briefly stepped away from the cash at about 2 p.m. The money belongs to a company that was operating the buy-back service.

The man proceeded to run into the men’s locker room and exit on the south side of the building. Police collected evidence at the scene, and the incident was caught on surveillance cameras.

The suspect is described as an African American man in his late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing light blue jeans, a black and gray sweatshirt and a black hat with a bright red brim.

Anyone who recognizes the man is encouraged to call police at 218 332 5555.
