FF girls let lead slip, tie River Lakes 4-4
Published 10:34am Saturday, December 22, 2012PAYNESVILLE — The Fergus Falls girls were ready to skate off the ice after taking a two goal lead in the second period, but the River Lakes Stars were able to knot the game up 4-4 with two third period goals to finish the game in a tie.
Jocie Kooiman got the Stars on the board first with an unassisted goal at 7:22 of the first period. Fergus Falls’ Lauren Norgren tied the game up midway through the period and Sydney Kuehl’s goal from Steph Kolstad put the Otters in the driver’s seat after one.
Kolstad would continue to pad the Otter lead with a goal at the 6:59 mark in the second off a Norgren assist. Keianna Overland made it 4-1 off a Norgren assist. River Lakes cut the lead to 4-2 off a goal by Allie Stanger.
The wheels fell off in the third for the Otters as Erin Porwoll scored two goals to tie the game up for the Stars in the third.
Neither team could find the net in the extra period as the game ended in a tie.
River Lakes out shot the Otters 28-15.
The Otter girls will now be off till Jan. 3 when they travel to take on the Alexandria Cardinals.
