Otters dominate River Lakes 7-1Published 10:28am Saturday, December 22, 2012
After unforeseen circumstances, the Fergus Falls boys game versus River Lakes was postponed Tuesday with a rescheduling set for Friday evening.
The Otters did not let that phase them as they skated to a 7-1 win over the Stars at the Fergus Falls Community Arena.
Taylor Lemke got Fergus on the board early with a goal at 4:02 in the first off Connor Tarczon and Joe Nathe assists. Defenseman Adam Evenson would add a second goal for the Otters off a Jesse Ketonen assist to give Fergus a two goal lead at the end of the period.
Fergus continued their offensive assault in the second as goals by Sam Rausch and Nathe gave them a four goal lead six minutes into the period. Matt Kissner would prevent the shutout for the Otters as the Star skater found the back of the net midway through the second. Connor Tarczon would get the goal back as the period ended with a 5-1 Fergus lead.
Aidan Colling would add the icing to the cake for the Otters as he scored two third period goals as Fergus picked up their third straight victory.
The Stars were unable to hold back the Otter onslaught as Fergus peppered the net with 44 shots on goal, while Andrew McFarlane turned away 19 of 20 shots in goal for the home team.
The Otters will look to continue their success during the Holiday break as they host their annual holiday tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Fergus will skate at 7 p.m. each of the three nights as they open against Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake Thursday.
