Facilities plan being revised [UPDATED]

The Fergus Falls School Board is moving toward a revised plan to improve outdoor physical education and athletic facilities after

a referendum for the project failed during the last election.

“The school board is doing couple things,” said district business manager Mark Masten. “The designer for the project has been asked to come up with a few modifications so we can analyze them and proceed ahead. We are looking at possibly removing the Cleveland and Roosevelt portion of the projects, and modifying the concession stand.”

Since the issue did not pass in the last election, the project scope would have to change, and the $6.625 million dollar budget decreased at least five percent, to be eligible to go to the voters within six months of the last vote on Nov. 6. After six months, the project could go before voters again without changing.

The school board is hoping to put the issue back out to voters by the end of March or early April.

“We are waiting for the design modifications and we’ll analyze them in January at the school board level,” said Masten.
