LRHC 42nd among MN nonprofits

Fergus Falls-based Lake Region Healthcare Corporation was ranked 42nd in Minnesota in the 17th annual StarTribune Nonprofit 100, up from 50th last year.

The list, which was published in Sunday’s StarTribune, ranks non-profit agencies based on revenues in fiscal year 2011.

LRHC had $104.2 million in revenues, $101.7 million in expenses and $2.6 million in excess for the fiscal year 2011, which ended Sept. 30. Its expense ratio was 97.5 percent, and 0.3 percent of its revenues were in the form of grants and gifts. CEO Larry Schulz was listed as having a total compensation package of $341,558.

LRHC was ranked 28th among health care organizations.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota was the top ranked nonprofit, with $9.26 billion in revenues in fiscal year 2011.

Among other nonprofits in the region, Concordia College in Moorhead was ranked 33rd overall and eighth among educational nonprofits, with $124.8 million in revenues in 2011.
