Lion lawn ornaments to return home [UPDATED]

One of the three lion statues was returned to its rightful owner Saturday, and the other two will be returned home soon.

The three statues that were reported missing May 8 and 9 were recovered in the garage of a home when police broke up an underage drinking party on Lincoln Avenue Nov. 29.

Two were taken from the 400 block of East Vasa Avenue and the other from the 400 block of Broadway Avenue.

The tenants of the home in which police found the statues claimed they found the massive ornaments on their lawn one morning.

They were allegedly part of an ongoing joke where ornaments like the statues would be taken from one house and put in the lawn of another.

The lions were moved to the tenants’ garage where they sat for months.

Nobody has been cited, and the other two lion statues will be brought back home when the owners are contacted.
