A Pelican Rapids man was arrested after fleeing the scene of an accident that caused injuries near Wadena Monday.

A 2003 Dodge Neon was traveling east on U.S. Highway 10 when a 1992 Ford F150 driven by Carl Dahlvang, 53, of Staples entered the highway, drove into the median crossover and broadsided the driver’s side of the Neon at about 5 p.m.

Dahlvang then fled the scene on foot but was found walking on the road in the area.

He was arrested and booked into the Wadena County Jail for criminal vehicle operation, second degree DWI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and driving after cancellation.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted at the scene by Verndale and Wadena police department, the Wadena County Sheriff’s Department, Verndale Fire and Tri County Ambulance.

Please print a correction. I am the father of the PR man that was involved. It was the man from staples that was drunk at 5:00pm on Christmas Eve and broadsided the PR man’s vehicle. Then the Staples man fled the scene. The PR man was not at fault at all in this accident. He was simply heading to his Grandparents to celebrate the Christmas Holiday.
