Vikings capture Valhalla

PELICAN RAPIDS — In a close game, the Pelican Rapids girls were able to defend their home court against the Underwood Rockets with a 44-37 win in the Valhalla championship Friday.

The Korf sisters were at it again as Madison and Mackenzie dropped in 11 points a piece, while Mackenzie picked up a double-double for the Vikings dishing out 10 assists.

Carly Masloski led the Rockets with 10 points, while teammate Greta Thormondson dropped in double-double with 12 tallies and 15 rebounds.

Both teams struggled from the floor against tough defensive play as the Vikings shot 33 percent from the floor compared to the Rockets 29 percent.

Masloski and Thormondson were named to the All-Tournament team, which included Pelican Rapids’ Korf sisters and Sommer Haugrud.

Both teams will be back to regular season action as the Vikings will travel to take on Crosby-Ironton Friday at 7:30 p.m., while the Rockets will look to get back on track as they travel to Verndale Dec. 7 for a 7:30 p.m. match up.
