Mixed Blood Theater to perform two 1-act plays [UPDATED]
Published 9:22am Thursday, January 3, 2013 Updated 11:23am Thursday, January 3, 2013“Daughter’s of Africa” and “Dr. King’s Dream” will be performed by Mixed Blood Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at A Center for the Arts in downtown Fergus Falls.
“Daughters of Africa” is a play fueled by the songs of Lena Horne, Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah and many others. This exuberant, music-driven celebration of African American women’s triumphs and accomplishments features a striking collection of profiles of the famous and the forgotten.
“Dr King’s Dream” is about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who led American society through some its most profound changes with passion, devotion, and courage. Drawn from his own letters, sermons, books and speeches, this biography memorably illuminates why he is honored with a holiday each January.
General seating tickets are $18 for adults and $5 for children/students and many good seats are still available. For more information or tickets, call AC4TA at 218-998-ARTS (2787) or visit www.FergusArts.org.
