Rone had the right formula [UPDATED]Published 9:26am Thursday, January 3, 2013 Updated 11:28am Thursday, January 3, 2013
The seemingly untimely death of a local businessman who was known for taking some risks is indeed sad.
Mike Rone, co-founder of Northern Contours, began the business in 1992 with business partner Duaine Miranowski. Under their leadership, the company grew to employ about 200 people.
Rone helped build jobs in Fergus Falls through Northern Contours and that is no small feat. While many businesses have experienced success, only a handful have seen such growth.
Rone took a risk starting a business, and that he bet on Fergus Falls as the best place to start Northern Contours was intuitive.
Fergus Falls offers many positives for companies willing to take a chance on our community, but those people must be willing to go out on a small limb.
That Mike was more than an astute businessman says even more about his character.
According to many people, he was also a great friend, and easy to get along with. Perhaps with all these traits, Rone could do nothing but succeed.
We wish there were about a dozen more like him willing to step up and take a chance on Fergus Falls.
