Long-time PR School Board member retires [UPDATED]

Don Perrin, who served 20 years on the Pelican Rapids school board, stepped down from the position after officiating his last meeting Dec. 18, according to the Pelican Rapids Press.

The Pelican Drug owner is a native of Pelican Rapids where he grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from high school in 1971. In 1982, he bought Pelican Drug and in 1991, he became a member of the school board.

During his tenure on the board, Perrin negotiated a zero salary increase with staff when the school district was struggling financially, oversaw the successful vote on the 2011 operating levy increase and implemented “The Leader in Me” program this year.
