UNDERWOOD — The Underwood boys basketball team started 2013 off on a good note as they defeated Little Eight Conference foe Parkers Prairie 67-45 Thursday at home.

With pressure defense, the Rockets were able to keep the Panther shooters off balance and leave at the break with a 37-30 lead.

Parkers Prairie looked to stop the inside game of Zane Lind and Steffan Stroh, but the Underwood perimeter shooters were on fire as they dropped in 70 percent from beyond the arc. The Rocket defense kept the pressure up in the second half allowing 15 points to seal the deal.

Adam Creek and Chase Collins each threw down 18 tallies, while Stroh chipped in 13 points for Underwood. Creek had an impressive night shooting as he went four for five from three-point land in the victory.

The Panthers were led by Eric Ronning with 15 points.

Underwood post game didn’t suffer in the rebounding category as they out-boarded Parkers Prairie 32-24 with Lind grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Rockets will now travel to take on the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors Friday at 7:30 p.m.
