Published 11:00am Monday, January 7, 2013

Four counterfeit $20 bills were passed at three different area businesses Friday.

None of the bills were caught by the cashiers, but Walmart staff was able to track the time the bills were passed and access security footage of the man who used them.

The man purchased about $37 worth of merchandise at Walmart. Another counterfeit bill was found when counting out a cash drawer at Papa Murphy’s. The fourth fake bill was reported from the Quick Stop in Underwood.

Representatives from the police station and sheriff’s office said it is likely the cases are connected, but it is too soon to say for sure.

The cases are under investigation, and local business are warned to keep an eye out for counterfeit bills.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the photos is encouraged to call the Fergus Falls Police Station at 218-332 5555.
