Montana man arrested in FF

A Montana man was charged Jan. 2 after allegedly attempting to get a ride in a Fergus Falls Police squad car while carrying a firearm, knife, crystal meth and marijuana.

Sean James Youpee, 25, faces charges including second degree possession of six grams or more of meth, third degree possession of more than three grams of meth and carrying a pistol in a public place without a permit.

According to Otter Tail County court reports, police received a call Dec. 30 of a vehicle stuck in a wooded area near South Oak Street. Upon their arrival, the two officers found Youpee, who allegedly appeared nervous.

Youpee claimed he got stuck on the way to a gas station, even though he was nowhere near a gas station or a route that might eventually take him to one.

Youpee told officers he had no money for a tow truck or taxi because he lost his wallet, and he was on his way from Minneapolis to Montana. The two officers offered to give him a ride to a gas station where he could call someone for help.

Before letting Youpee get into the squad car, officers decided to give him a pat search. The search revealed a methamphetamine pipe, a bag of marijuana, $105.74 cash, cigarette rolling papers, a plastic snort tube with residue inside, a switchblade knife and Ruger model P98 9mm pistol. Youpee later admitted to using methamphetamine prior to crashing his car.

Youpee was arrested and taken to Otter Tail County Jail where he faces multiple felony charges.
