Otters’ Aho wins Benson Classic

BENSON — Abbot Aho took home the 120 lb. title as the Fergus Falls wrestling team competed at the Benson Classic Saturday.

Aho made his way through the tournament, finishing with a decision over Conrad Condos of Breckenridge/ Campbell-Tintah 14-5. Aho would be named outstanding wrestler of the meet.

Teammates Tyler Giza (132 lb.) and Gus Makovsky (182 lb.) took home runner up honors at the meet. Giza fell to Gus McCarthy of Border West 8-4, while Makovsky lost to Minnewaska’s Taylor Lundebrek 12-0.

The Otters also saw four wrestlers take home third place finishes as Spencer Sikkink (106 lb.) won by Pin over West Central’s Jake Nohre, Ben Schindler (126 lb.) won by decision 5-1 over Zach Kluver of Quad County, Walker Heinen (160 lb.) won by decision over Hunter Olson, 5-3, and Abram Aho (195 lb.) won by decision in overtime 2-1 over Dana Berg of Barnesville.

The Otters will be back to dual matches as they host Frazee Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
