BBE hand Arrow boys first loss

In a battle of unbeatens, the No. 2 (Class A) Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars stormed past the Ashby Arrow boys 72-27 Monday.

“We were really overmatched tonight and had a hard time making shots obviously,” Ashby coach Jeremy Knick said. “They are ranked number two in state for a reason. They always looked to get a good shot and they converted.”

The Jaguars’ Brian Goodwin led BBE with 19 tallies, while Billy Borgerding chipped in 15.

Blake Ohren and J.P. Moe each scored 10 points for the Arrows in the game.

The Ashby shooters could not find their groove as they made only 16 percent of their field goals compared to BBE’s 56 percent.

The Jaguars were also able to overpower the host 37 to 19 on the boards in the win.

Ashby will look to get back to their winning ways Thursday as they travel to take on Little Eight Conference foe Rothsay at 7:30 p.m.
