ST. CLOUD — The Fergus Falls boys hockey team could not stop late power play goals by St. Cloud Tech Tuesday at the St. Cloud State Ice Arena in a 5-3 defeat in Central Lakes Conference play.

The Otters rung the bell first as a Zach Tarczon’s goal off an Ean Goos assist game Fergus an early lead. The Tigers responded with a goal by Riley Bates late in the period.

Tech would force the Otters to play catch up as they took a 2-1 lead in the second period. Jesse Ketonen would bring Fergus back to even off Kyler Peterson and Tarczon passes.

Joey Mendel flipped in another goal for the Tigers in the third period and they would strike again as Bates punched in a power play goal to give Tech a two goal lead.

Ketonen looked to get Fergus back into the game with a goal off Adam Evenson and Peterson assists, but the host would close the door as Tanner Skaja found the back of the net on another power play goal.

Fergus netminder Ian Bjorgum turned away 34 shots on goal, while the Otters placed 20 on the Tech goalie.

The Otters will look to get back to their winning ways Thursday as they welcome in St. Cloud Apollo for a 7:15 p.m. CLC match up.
