Harold Wallace Schoening, 89, of Fergus Falls

He was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Fergus Falls, the son of Bernard and Anna (Schulz) Schoening. He grew up on the farm, attending country school at District 80, rural Fergus Falls. He was baptized Dec. 2, 1923, and confirmed Aug. 22, 1937.
On Oct. 9, 1949, he married Mary Hugli at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They purchased a farm in Fergus Falls Township where they had a dairy operation until December of 2000. He lived and worked on the farm until August of 2011, when he moved to the Broen Home.
Harold was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was active in helping with 4-H dairy cattle projects. He served as School Clerk for the School Board of District 1424.
He enjoyed cutting firewood and ice fishing with his sons, and preparing samples for the local crop show. Farming and helping out on the farm was always a favorite activity, and he drove tractor until he was 87 years old.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary, on March 30, 2010; and a brother, Robert Schoening.
Survivors include his four children, Patricia (Dave) Tigner of Maple Grove, Wayne (Liz) Schoening of Fergus Falls, Jon Schoening of Fergus Falls, and Kay (Clayton) Reeves of Springfield, NE; four grandchildren: Maggie (Brett) Frank of Mandan, N.D., Amanda (Kyle) Gulbrandson of Bismarck, N.D., Kasey Reeves of Springfield, Neb., and Kelsey Reeves of Springfield, Neb.; a great-grandson, Declan Frank; a brother, Norman (Donna) Schoening of Fergus Falls; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Schoening and Mary Smith, both of Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
