Bus service sees increased ridership in Grant County [UPDATED]
Published 10:11am Friday, January 11, 2013 Updated 12:16pm Friday, January 11, 2013Rainbow Rider, a commercial bus service out of Lowry, saw an increase in riders in Grant County last year, according to a story in the Grant County Herald.
In 2011, 11,970 riders took advantage of the service in Grant County. In 2012, 12,316, rode the bus, while 162,699 rode the bus in Rainbow Rider’s service area, which includes Grant, Douglas, Pope, Stevens, Todd and Traverse counties.
The company, started in 1995, runs 33 buses and is funded primarily with state and federal money through the Minnesota Department of Transportation, which allows for low fares.
