The Underwood boys basketball team nailed 50 percent of their shots Thursday night as they were able to defeat the hosting Hillcrest Comets 72-46 in a Little Eight Conference battle.

The visitor was able to establish themselves early in the game as they left at the break with a 33-23 lead.

The Comets, playing in their first game in nearly a month, struggled to get back in the game in the second half as the Rocket defense clamped down on the host to pick up the win.

Chase Collins led the Underwood shooters with 21 points, while teammate Zane Lind tallied a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Comets were led by Daniel Nersten with 18 marks and Trevor Leach pulled down eight rebounds in the game.

The Rockets will host the Rothsay Tigers Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in another LEC battle, while the Comets will look for their first win of the new year as they travel to take on Breckenridge Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
