Schools close due to road conditions

Published 11:25am Friday, January 11, 2013

Due to poor weather conditions that were expected to get worse over the weekend, schools in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area were closed today.

A combination of freezing rain and fog made road conditions difficult Friday morning, and the rain was expected to turn to ice later today, as temperatures were expected to drop from the mid-30s at noon today to single digits overnight, with winds gusting at 21 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

All Friday evening prep sports were also cancelled.
