I-94 closed from FF to Alexandria [UPDATED]

Interstate 94 from Fergus Falls to Alexandria is shut down due to slick roads.

The span was shut down because of “extreme icy conditions,” said Sgt. Jesse Grabow of the Minnesota State Patrol on Friday night.

The National Weather Service forecast hazardous weather for portions of central and southern Minnesota and west central Wisconsin. The agency said that on Friday night areas of dense fog would give way to gusty winds and much cold weather. The result will be that wet roads will freeze and become very slick.

Winds are expected to increase significantly overnight with gusts of 35 or 40 mph toward Saturday morning.

Earlier Friday icy conditions caused some school districts to cancel or delay classe
