After a hot start in the first half that put the hosting Comet boys up 21 points, Hillcrest hit cruise control on the way to a 57-37 Little Eight Conference win over Brandon-Evansville Tuesday.

The Comets took control of the court in front of their home crowd as they left at the break up 29-8.

In the second half, the Chargers were able to find the inside of the bucket, but the host would reply with a make of their own to keep the game out of reach.

Daniel Nersten led the way for the Comets with 18 points, while Evan Newmann chipped in 12 tallies of his own in the win.

The Chargers’ John Haseman was the only player in double figures scoring an astounding 23 points.

The Comets will be off till Saturday when they host Wheaton/Herman-Norcross at 5:30 p.m.

The Chargers will look to get back on track on the home court Friday as they host LEC rival Battle Lake in a 7:30 p.m. showdown.
