Congratulations to AAA winners [UPDATED]
Published 10:06am Wednesday, January 16, 2013 Updated 12:07pm Wednesday, January 16, 2013Callie Ann Hoffbeck and Sam Steen, seniors at Fergus Falls High School, are the 2013 AAA award winners.
The Minnesota State High School League AAA award recognizes students who are outstanding in Academics, Arts and Athletics.
Sam and Callie Ann will now advance to the Section 8AA contest. They will compete against the winners of the other 15 section schools.
The winners of the section will advance to the state competition in the Twin Cities in late March.
Callie Ann has maintained a 3.6 GPA or better in her high school courses.
She is involved in orchestra and choir. In athletics, she has been on the varsity in cross country and track since her middle school days.
She is looking forward to attending Concordia, Augsburg or Minnesota State University-Moorhead next year.
Sam Steen has also maintained a 3.6 GPA or better over his career.
He is involved in band, choir and orchestra. In athletics, he has participated in soccer, lettered in strength training and tennis. Sam will attend M-State in Fergus Falls next fall.

Paraprofessional
recognition week
Paraprofessional Recognition Week is scheduled for Jan. 14-18, 2013.
Paraprofessionals are individuals who work in a variety of positions throughout our school district.
Their roles include, but are not limited to, those who work as instructional assistants, Title 1 paraprofessionals, pupil support assistants, special education paraprofessionals, job coaches, lunchroom and playground assistants, media center assistants, and more.
The Fergus Falls Public Schools has outstanding paraprofessionals who contribute greatly to our school district.
During Paraprofessional Recognition Week, it is appropriate to recognize and celebrate their contributions.
Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the exemplary work that our paraprofessional staff carries out each day for our students and staff.
Marching Band

Many, many thanks go out to this wonderful community for their generous support of the Fergus Falls High School Marching Band.
As of Friday, Jan. 11 the total raised was $50,000 — only $10,000 away from the $60,000 goal. This total did not include the three fundraising totals from Papa Murphys, Taco Johns and Applebees.
The marching band is working tremendously hard to prepare for their Jan. 17 Washington, D.C., departure.
Early morning practices, full dress rehearsals, and a live performance at halftime of the basketball game on Tuesday — all preparing them to shine at the Jan. 21 inaugural parade.
One-Act Play is
‘Wake-Up Callba’
There will a public performance of “Wake-up Callba,” at 5:30 p.m. today with no admission charge.
The One Act Play Festival will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan 24. Admission is also free.
A funny, spooky play about the nature of reality, “Wake-Up Call” starts as a nightmare and goes to places you’d never expect.
Seventeen-year-old Jim is having a really bad day. After getting up the nerve to tell his girlfriend, Rochelle, that he loves her, she asks him to help poison her father.
Is she joking? Just when it becomes clear that she’s definitely not joking, Jim’s mother wakes him up. It was all a dream!
But Mom has bad news for him. Terrible news in fact. As the news becomes nightmarishly bad, Jim wakes up again.
He’s back with Rochelle, who tells him he fainted, and Dad comes home just in time for Rochelle to offer him a big glass of suspicious-looking milk.
Now Jim isn’t sure what’s real and what’s a dream, and every time he thinks he’s got it figured out, his life takes another surprising left turn.
The cast includes Austin Begley, Morgan Fylling, Allyson Godel, Ben Haugmo, Cassandra Eerdmans, and Abby Lindgren.
