WADENA — The Fergus Falls Otters boys hockey team traveled to take on the Wadena-Deer Creek Tuesday night. Zach Tarczon netted a hat trick for the Otters to lead them to an 8-6 victory.

The Otters got things rolling early, scoring five first period goals to give them a 5-0 lead at the end of one. Colton Buseth and Zach Tarczon netted back to back powerplay goals just over a minute apart to start things for Fergus Falls. Aidan Colling would continue the Otters’ success scoring an unassisted goal before Buseth and Tarzcon each added another to close out the first period.

Austin Hanson scored early in the second to put the Otters up by six, but Wadena-Deer Creek quickly answered to get on the board. Tarczon then tallied his third goal of the evening followed by a goal from Sam Rausch to put the Otters in a seemingly safe position with a seven goal advantage. Wadena-Deer Creek wasn’t going to give in easily as they were able to put four pucks in the back of the net by the end of the period to cut the lead to three.

In the third the Wolverines were able to score one more time, but it would prove to not be enough as the Otters held on for the victory.

The Otters will take on Willmar once again on Thursday after splitting with them earlier this season. Start time is slated for 7:15 p.m.
