Dorothy Peterson, was at home, surrounded by her family and under Hospice care, when she died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

Dorothy Arlene Martinson, the daughter of Herbert and Hilma (Johnson) Martinson, was born May 28, 1926, in Pelican Rapids. At that time her parents were living in Maplewood Township.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert (1964) and Hilma (1987) Martinson; her sister, Harriet Ramona Claypool (2011); her daughter, Rosa Lee Anne Irwin (1994); her son, James Stempfley (1997); two grandsons, Michael Carpentier (1988) and Emmuel (Skip, EJ) Byington Jr. (1995) and one great-granddaughter, Crystal Mershon (2005).

She is survived by seven children, Carmen (Maxie) Stempfley, of Nashville, Tenn., Hubert (Paulette) Stempfley of Marion, Ill., Sylvia Mac Vettie of Underwood, Keith Stempfley of Underwood, Pamela Stempfley of Minneapolis, John (Jean) Stempfley of Holland, Mich., and Mary Olson of Underwood; her sister, Olive Marolt of Weslaw, Texas; her brother, Harlow (Betty) Martinson of Winlock, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Merrill Claypool of Braham; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Tingvold Lutheran Church, rural Underwood

Clergy: Rev. Nancy Monke

Burial: A spring burial is planned in Tingvold Cemetery, rural Underwood

Funeral Home: Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
