Life richer because of Beck [UPDATED]
Published 5:50am Monday, January 21, 2013 Updated 7:51am Monday, January 21, 2013At 90, Charles Beck has lived a lot of life. More importantly, Beck has enriched all our lives with his artistic visions, captured in paintings and many woodcuts. We wish him continued success and a happy birthday.
He began teaching art at M State in Fergus Falls in 1960, retiring in 1987. That’s a lot of years influencing and guiding young artists. Several of those artists now also grace our homes and lives with their talents.
Beck has more than a vision, he has the ability to take it from his mind and put it on wood or canvas. Without such abilities, our lives would be quite drab.
When M State renovated its facilities a few years ago, it recognized Beck’s contributions to the arts community when it named its art gallery after him. And justifiably so — Beck worked hard in building the arts program at the college.
