UNDERWOOD — In a special Little Eight Conference double-header, the Underwood Rocket boys and girls team hosted Ashby Friday evening.Indians

In the girls game, the Rockets played a flawless game and rained down shots on the Arrows for a 77-38 win.

Underwood, playing in their second game in a three night extravaganza, shot an amazing 61 percent from the floor, while Ashby was kept off balance by tough defensive play.

Carly Masloski led the Rockets with 27 points, while teammate Greta Thormodson added 22 tallies in the win.

Amber Sundal scored a team high for the Arrows with 13 marks in the game.

In boys action, the home team saw the visiting Arrows pick up their 10th win of the season, defeating the Rockets 57-49.

Ashby came out of the gate firing on all cylinders and took a commanding lead. The Rockets were able to battle back and go into the break down 30-24.

In the second half, the host was able to stay close, but saw the game shift late as the Arrows picked up a LEC victory.

“I really liked our intensity on defense tonight. We communicated well and worked a lot harder. That was our emphasis tonight,” said Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick. “I thought we did a nice job most of the night making them take difficult shots and getting deflections. I thought the team as a whole worked much better together on the defensive side. This was a good team effort and it paid off.”

Blake Ohren led the charge for the Arrows with 16 tallies, while teammates J.P. Moe and Tanner Langlie each chipped in 12 points in the win.

Underwood’s Chase Collins led the team in scoring with 18 points and Zane Lind recorded a double-double with 13 marks and 11 boards.

The Arrow boys will close out their three game road trip Monday as they travel to take on West Central Area at 7:30 p.m., while the girls will travel to take on No. 8 (Class A) Parkers Prairie Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Underwood girls will play Pelican Rapids at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Concordia College of Moorhead, while the boys host Battle Lake Friday in a 7:30 p.m. tilt.
