Harold Woessner, 87, of Ottertail

Harold Woessner, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Harold Carlton Woessner was born on Oct. 15, 1925, in Elbow Lake Township, the son of Albert and Olga (Halvorson) Woessner. The oldest of four children, Harold grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Following the eighth grade, Harold left school to help on the family farm.

In his later teens, he moved to the Twin Cities for a short time, eventually returning to Fergus Falls.

On Feb. 1, 1948, Harold married Dorraine Hanson at Ten Mile Lake Church, rural Dalton.

Harold worked at Park Region Bakery and in 1961, Harold went to work for Electrolux in sales, where he worked until he retired. Harold also owned and operated Green Acres Trailer Park for over twenty years.

After retiring, Harold and Dorraine moved from Fergus Falls to Ottertail, and for the past twenty plus years, had wintered in Arizona.

Harold enjoyed old time dancing, visiting, fishing, coin collecting, and old cars, many of which he owned.

He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, was a member of the Birak Shriners where he drove go-kart in many area parades, and as a member of the Fergus Falls Classic Car Club, enjoyed driving his many different cars in parades throughout the years.

While living in Fergus Falls, Harold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, but most recently Zion Lutheran Church of Amor.

Harold was very generous and an extremely loving father who cherished family gatherings. Harold loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which he affectionately referred to as his “little angels.” They were truly the highlight of his life.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, family and many, many friends.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorraine of Good Samaritan Senior Living in Battle Lake; three children, Lauris (Becky) of Ottertail; Darold (Vicky) of Ottertail; and Carla (Herman) Tysdal of Battle Lake; eight grandchildren, Tad Woessner, Tara (Brent) Barry, Mclain Woessner, Jordan Woessner, Alisha (Tim) Erickson, Jerame (Sue) Tysdal, Troy (Katie) Tysdal, and Derek (Chelsey) Tysdal; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Wade of St. Paul and Betty (Noble) Hatling of Fergus Falls; brother, Richard (Ruth) of Elbow Lake; and brother-in-law, Jarius (Eunice) Hanson of Waseca.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Jo, in 1962.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services at the church

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Amor

Burial: Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Fergus Falls
