Arrows 2nd half surge tops Comets

ASHBY — The Ashby Arrows boys basketball team had a strong second half to push them towards victory Tuesday night with a score of 62-42 over Hillcrest.

Only up by one at half, the Arrows outscored the Comets by 19 in the second half to give them some insurance points.

There were three players in double digits for the Arrows, with Blake Ohren leading the way with 13, Morgan Wing with 13, and J.P. Moe with 12.

“This was a good win for us tonight,” said Arrows coach Jeremy Knick. “We had some struggles the night before against WCA so it was good to bounce back from that game. I thought we played a pretty solid defensive game all night. We forced them to turn the ball over and take a lot of difficult shots. We started a little slow on offense, but got into a good rhythm in the second half and we were able to pull away. The all around effort was there and we played like a team tonight and it showed.”

Ashby will take on Henning Friday at 7:30 p.m., while Hillcrest will host Rothsay at 7:30 p.m Friday.
