Jonathan William Marfell, 34, of Fargo
Published 10:07am Wednesday, January 23, 2013 Updated 12:11pm Wednesday, January 23, 2013Jon Marfell, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, surrounded by his wife, parents and brother, at his parents’ home in Fergus Falls.
He was born Jan. 31, 1978, in St. Paul, the son of Bill and Amy (Schroeder) Marfell. He attended school in Fergus Falls at Morning Son Christian School, Fergus Falls Middle School and Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, graduating in 1996. He then attended NDSCS and MSCTC (Moorhead), graduating in 1999, with a degree in electronics communications.
On Sept. 15, 2001, he married Michelle Fasnacht at Madison Lake.
Jon was employed over the years at Fleet Farm in both Fergus Falls and Fargo, at Lakes Radio in Fergus Falls, and at Dell Comm Inc. in Fargo.
He worked for Tharaldson Communications in Fargo as a telephone programmer from 1999-2006, and was most recently employed as an Outside Plant Technician with IdeaOne Telecom in Fargo.
Jon enjoyed fishing, cooking, smoking meat with his buddy, Ross, tinkering with electronics and computers, combining with his brother, Ben, and especially spending time with friends and family.
He was a fan of both the U of M Gopher Hockey and Fargo Force Hockey teams.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Don and Shirley Marfell, and Kenneth Schroeder.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Marfell of Fargo, ND; his parents, Bill and Amy Marfell of Fergus Falls; his brother, Ben (Lora) Marfell and nieces, Abby and Emma of Fergus Falls; his grandmother, Ruby Schroeder of St. Hilaire; Michelle’s parents, Bernie and Nancy Fasnacht of Madison Lake; and his in-laws, Matt (Rachel) Fasnacht and nephew, Darrell of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Deb (Brian) Lamkin, and nieces and nephews Lexi, Dautry, Keaton, and Mollie of Edmond, Okla., Tony (Melissa) Fasnacht of Mankato, Emily Fasnacht of Edmond, Okla.; Michelle’s grandmother, Edith Dauk of Mankato; uncle, Jim Marfell of Lake City; aunts, Mary Zempel of Eau Claire Wis., Judy Olson of Hudson Wis., Susie Deacon of Eau Claire Wis., Carol (Ray) Talmage of Boyceville Wis., Ruth (Dick) Kennedy of Fillmore Ind., Myrna Rian of Fountain City Wis., and Mary Szigety of St. Hilaire; and numerous cousins and friends.
Memorials are preferred to Lake Region Cancer Care and Research Center, Humane Society of Otter Tail County, The Hour of Worship of Messiah Lutheran Church in Fargo, or the donor’s choice.
Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
