New thrift store opens in Fergus Falls with a mission to fulfill

When times were tough for Janie and Kris Anderson, their family, the community and their church reached out to help. Now that they are on the verge of opening the All in One Thrift Store, they intend to pay it forward, in thanks for what they have already received.

The All in One Thrift Store is located at 2521 Pebble Lake Road, at the entrance to DeLagoon Park. When the Andersons open at the beginning of March, they hope to feature tons of gently used baby and children’s clothes, because as parents they know that is really needed. They have two children with physical impairments, and a special needs child.

After a very difficult pregnancy, and a pregnancy related cancerous cyst, Janie was not supposed to be able to get pregnant. But fate brought the Anderson’s a son, and Janie severe health problems.

After not being able to work for three years, Janie is looking forward to opening the store, and having a business that will accommodate her family’s schedule.

While the store will be run by Janie, husband Kris will be out on the hunt on weekends at yard sales and auctions, looking for a variety of items. He also works two jobs during the week in town.

“I’ll be looking for household items, furniture, clothing, but no junk,” said Kris.

“For a guy, he’s pretty good at that kind of stuff,” adds Janie with a smile.

They also hope many people will call for items to be picked up, or drop off quality merchandise — from clothes to household items and furniture.

The couple already has plans to make donations back to the community from store proceeds. They have a schedule of giving, picking one charity or cause each month from opening through the end of the year, because of all of the help they have received in the past.

“In March we’ll be making a donation to Someplace Safe, to help battered women and their children with their needs,” said Janie.

In April, they plan to make a donation to their church, the First Church of the Nazarene, to help others with their needs as they were helped themselves.

The All in One Thrift Store plans on being open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday , and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. To make a donation, call Janie Anderson at 218-770-6281.
