PELICAN RAPIDS — Coming off a loss to No. 6 (Class AA) Hawley Monday night, the Pelican Rapids boys basketball team looked for retribution Tuesday, defending their home court against the Barnesville Trojans in a 73-48 victory.

Playing a focused first half after the loss, Pelican established themselves early, taking an 18 point lead into the lockeroom. With the pace continued by the Vikings in the second, the difference was too much for the Trojans to overcome.

“It was a nice comeback win after a tough loss for us over in Hawley Monday. I felt we played with a really good intensity, especially in the first half,” said Viking head coach Doug Bruggeman.

The Vikings were lead by Tucker Forsgren, who had a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards on the night.

Barnesville’s Michael Strand lead the Trojan’s in scoring with 24 points.

The Vikings look to continue their winning season Friday night, when they will travel to Perham to take on the Yellowjackets.
