Sometimes people need much more than a Hallmark card to re-affirm devotion with their spouse.

Our Lady of Victory Church will host its popular “I DO” marriage conference from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, and all married couples are invited to attend.

Church members Randy Fischer, operations manger of Ringdahl Ambulance, and his wife Jill, a professional quilter, have been married for 34 years. They have coordinated the I DO workshop for the church for the past three years.

“We want to provide an opportunity for couples to enrich their marriage,” said Randy.

The title of this year’s conference is “I DO all the days of my life,” with a theme that marriage is worth fighting for.

“Married couples today may think ‘I’ve got a strong marriage and it’s going to be like that forever,’” said Randy. “We always want to work on it and strengthen our marriage because life throws us curves all the time.”

This year’s theme was inspired by the Warren Barfield song “Love is not a Fight,” which includes the lyrics “love is not a fight, but is something worth fighting for.”

Fischer emphasized this workshop is for all couples, no matter what the status of their marriage may be or what religious denomination they are, and couples are not asked to discuss anything in front of anyone.

The I DO conference includes presentations, prayer, and a Mass, culminating in a romantic candlelight dinner served by the parish youth.

There is a $40 suggested donation per couple, but couples won’t be turned away for inability to contribute.

To register, contact Mary Jo at the OLV parish office at 218-736-2429.
