Ronald H. Greene, 56, of Pelican Rapids
Published 10:18am Thursday, January 24, 2013 Updated 12:19pm Thursday, January 24, 2013Ronald Greene, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Ron was born on April 16, 1956, in Fargo, to Harry and Marjorie (Tottenham) Greene. He grew up in Pelican Rapids and attended school there, later going to M State in Detroit Lakes for its welding program.
For many years he operated Greene’s Poultry Farm with his father, the Baer Poultry Farms at Lake Park, and in recent years at McDonalds in Pelican Rapids.
On April 14, 2001, he married Christine Kallas in Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home in Pelican Rapids until recently when they moved to Fergus Falls.
He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, a long-time member of the Pelican Rapids Fire Department (from 1980 until retiring in 2005), and a former member of the Lions Club and Jaycees.
Over the years he has enjoyed time fishing, both in the boat and their fish house.
In his younger days he enjoyed bowling, golfing, motorcycling and snowmobiling.
Ron had a love for animals that included pet ducks, guinea hens and specialty chickens. He had several cats and dogs growing up that were special. At present he and Chris have two shih-tzus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Dorothy; and a brother-in-law, Curtis Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; two sisters, Adele Thompson of Pelican Rapids and Sharon Bourcy of Fargo; a brother-in-law, Arlo Bourcy of Moorhead; three nieces, Timberly Bourcy, Amy Jo Bourcy and her daughter, Karina, and Penny (Jeremy) Ripperger, along with their children, Jarret and Jordyn; his mother-in-law, Carol (Brenna) Kallas of Inver Grove Heights; and other relatives from the Twin Cities.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Pelican Rapids
