Panthers pounce on Comets
Published 10:47am Friday, January 25, 2013The Hillcrest Comet girls were able to hang with Little Eight Conference leader Parkers Prairie in the first half, but the Panthers found a second gear in the second half to defeat the home team 79-31.
The No. 7 (Class A) Panthers were able to control the game, but the Comets would not quit as they trailed 39-21 at the break.
The visitor would prove to be too much in the second half as they outscored Hillcrest 40-10 to claim the victory.
“We started well,” Comets coach Charlie Brue said. “But the Panther’s great shooting deflated us.”
Kelsey Nersten led the scoring for Hillcrest with 11 points, while Laura Tungseth had a team high five rebounds in the game.
The Panthers saw three players deliver most of the scoring as Ally Taylor (27), Madison Dorn (24) and Micaela Noga (21) were all in double digits in the win.
The Comets will look to rebound this weekend as they travel to Fargo to take on Oak Grove in a 4 p.m. Saturday match up.
