Clifford Anderson, 91, of Pelican Rapids

Clifford Anderson, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids, surrounded by family.

Clifford was born near Rothsay, on Feb. 19, 1921. He moved with his parents, Peter and Thelma (Halbakken) Anderson to the farm in Trondhjem Township. He attended school at District 78 and was a lifetime member of South Immanuel Lutheran Church. Clifford was a hardworking man who took pride in a job well done. He often told about working with horses in the early years.

He loved little children and animals, especially his cats, which he kept well fed. He was always proud of the well-manicured yard and barnyard.

After his father passed away in l961, he and his mother continued to live on the farm until her death in 1999.

In 2000, he moved into Mill Pond View Apartments. He always loved to visit in the Norwegian language and was soon known there as the “little Norwegian” or “Chuckles.”

In November of 2012, Clifford was admitted to Lake Region Hospital following a fall. He then transferred to Pelican Valley Nursing Home where he was under the care of Lakeland Hospice, a caring staff, and family.

Clifford is survived by his sister, Jean (Victor) Hitter, Pelican Rapids; nieces and nephews, Linda Lancaster, Patricia (Byron) Nelson, Bonnie (Bill) Erickson, Jeff (Julie Ann) Holt, Terry (Pat Schroeder) Engebretson, Nancy (Jason Stein) Engebretson, Eric (Jami) Engebretson, Kurt Engebretson; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Evean Holt.

Visitation: Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.m with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Monday, at South Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rothsay
