After their first meeting yielded a 5-1 loss, the Fergus Falls boys hockey team looked to make it three-in-a-row and top rival Little Falls Saturday evening. The Flyers were able to spoil the home team’s weekend as they shutout the Otters and laid claim to a 4-0 victory.exciting

The Otters found themselves behind the eight ball after the first period, as Little Falls knocked in three unanswered goals. Mark Anez scored the Flyers first two goals of the game as he rung the bell at the 4:59 mark and followed it up with another at 6:48. Austin Bjorge was able to take advantage of the shorthanded Otters late in the period as he knocked in a power play goal off an Anez and Ben Newman pass.

In the second period, Newman was able to slip in a power play goal of his own with an assist from Luke Majerle.

Fergus struggled in the first two periods, only putting 12 shots on net, but recorded that many shots on net in the third with no avail.

Ian Bjorgum was able to turn away 30 of 34 shots on net for the Otters, while his counterpart, Michael Stumpf, stopped 24 shots.

The Otters will look to regroup Tuesday as they travel to take on the River Lakes Stars with the puck dropping at 7:15 p.m.
