Frostbite Festival to heat up

Published 11:26am Monday, January 28, 2013

With temperatures expected to hit nearly 25 degrees by the Sertoma Fishing Derby on Sunday, it should be nice enough weatherwise for nearly everyone to take part in the outdoor activities planned for Frostbite Festival this weekend.

From the outdoor skating at Cleveland rink, to the Frozen 5K Run/Walk, to the broomball tournament and the always-popular fishing derby on Pebble Lake Sunday, the weather should allow people to get outside and enjoy the events.

Of course, there are plenty of indoor events as well for those who would rather hibernate than go outside.

Make time for bingo, darts, hockey game, comedy night, bunco and a concert with David Stoddard and Anthony Miltich. And that’s only Friday. On Saturday, the dart tournament continues and broomball takes off, the Jaycee’s host a chili cookoff, there’s plenty of bingo planned, and the much-anticipated Battle of the Businesses Bowling tournament is held, with blackout bingo 9-pin No Tap, Scotch doubles, and Fergus Bucks to the top teams. There will also be plenty of 20th anniversary surprises, door prizes and a prize for the best dressed teams.

Sunday morning, head to the Kiwanis pancake breakfast before hitting the ice on Pebble Lake for the annual Sertoma Fishing Derby, and finish the weekend out with a Super Bowl party at the Z103 Bar and Grill or the VFW.

Take a look at the lineup, put it on your calendar and celebrate our Minnesota winter with other like-minded folks.
