A Rothsay man was convicted on Jan. 24 for assault and violating a no contact order against the victim.

Timothy James Domholt, 28, was sentenced to 24 months, with 210 days stayed for the assault.

On June 1, authorities received a report of physical domestic assault in Fergus Falls. Upon arrival, authorities spoke with the complainant as well as the victim. The victim stated the defendant pushed her against a dresser and stomped on her foot. The victim went to her neighbor’s place, where a call to the authorities was made.

The defendant had left the scene prior to the arrival of the authorities, but was arrested.

While in custody and prior to the trial, the defendant violated a no contact order by having other inmates and himself call her cellphone.
